MARCHING BOBCATS TO STORM NORMANDY IN 2014

A nine-time Virginia Honor Band, the Battlefield High School Marching Bobcats have been selected as one of only six U.S. high school marching bands to participate in the first-ever commemorative D-Day parade on its 70th Anniversary in Normandy, France, in June 2014.

On June 6, 1944, Allied forces crossed the English Channel and landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, to liberate Western Europe from the occupation of Nazi Germany. Seventy years later on June 6, 2014, Sainte-Mere-Eglise, the first village liberated by American paratroopers, will host a historic parade. Military units, marching bands, along with cultural and civic groups will march down the same streets that were lined with American troops in 1941. Dignitaries and military officials from the United States, Canada, and all across Europe will attend. The President of the United States, cabinet members, and officials representing all branches of the Armed Forces will also be present.

METROPOLITAN FINE ARTS CENTER RAISES $5,000 for NEW ALLIANCE THEATRE

Metropolitan Performing Arts Alliance raised $5,000 at their first Annual Benefit Concert to go toward construction of their new Alliance Theatre in Alexandria, Va. ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCE EXAMINER VISITS METROPOLITAN FINE ARTS CENTER

Metropolitan Fine Arts Center (MFAC) is conducting its annual Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations for more than 140 vocational and graded students in April. This year’s examiner, Paula Lau, originally from Hong Kong, holds the RAD's prestigious advanced teaching diploma. Lau was the founder of the internationally renowned Hong Kong Ballet Company and former director of the Hong Kong Academy of Ballet. 5-year-old Girl Still Critical; Stable After Dog Attack in Md.

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- The girl, who was attacked by at least one or more dogs has been stabilized, after being taken to the hospital in critical condition on Wednesday evening in Charles County, Md., officials said Thursday morning.

The incident took place at a home in the 8600 block of Billingsley Road in Bennsville, MD. The child, who was said to be in critical condition, was flown to Children's Hospital in Washington, DC.

The girl was supposed to be under the supervision of her mother's boyfriend at the time of the attack. The boyfriend lost sight of her and later found her laying face down in the backyard where she had already been attacked, according to officials.

Charles County Animal Control has taken three dogs into custody. A pit bull, a bulldog, and a cane corso are the breeds suspected to be involved in the attack.
