FCPD Youth Drinking & Driving Meetings Begin On Oct. 2
FCPD Youth Drinking & Driving Meetings Begin On Oct. 2

In collaboration with the Unified Prevention Coalition, the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) is kicking off a series of five community forums; the first one is at 7:30 p.m. at the West Springfield District Station, 6140 Rolling Road, Springfield.

The forums offer residents the opportunity to voice their concerns and learn more about the communitywide issue of drinking and driving involving people between the ages of 15 and 24. More than 1,900 motor vehicle crashes in Fairfax County between 2006 and 2011 involved alcohol impairment by drivers in this age category.

On Saturday, September 29 officers on patrol in the 5900 Kingstowne Towne Center area around 8:30 p.m. observed a young man vomiting in the parking garage and stopped to check on him.  The 16-year-old Springfield area boy was transported to the hospital for medical attention due to alcohol intoxication. He was treated and later released. Three other boys, two 15 and one 16, were also determined to be under the influence and were charged with underage possession of alcohol and one with possession of marijuana.

Join police and other concerned citizens tonight in Springfield. Be part of the solution.

Other forums are also being held at the following dates and locations. These forums begin at 7 p.m.: Tuesday, October 2, West Potomac High School, 6500 Quander Road, Alexandria, Tuesday, October 9, McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean, Tuesday, October 16, 4900 Stonecroft Blvd. Chantilly, and Wednesday, October 17, Annandale High School, 4700 Medford Drive, Annandale
