Celebrate Fairfax

Get ready to have some fun! Come out to the Celebrate Fall for Fairfax event this Saturday at Fairfax Government Center. Fall for Fairfax will run from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Activities include a train ride, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, inflatables and several kid's performances. There will also be exhibits on education, sport and fitness, public saftey, personal health and the environment.

Welcome Back to School Annandale High School!

It’s almost time for Annandale High School to start back up again. Annandale High School would like to remind the parents and students that The Opening of School Student/Parent Packet can be picked up in the AHS Cafeteria on the following dates and times:

THURSDAY, AUGUST 26 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
THURSDAY EVENING, AUGUST 26 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 27 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

All financial obligations must be resolved prior to packet pickup, which includes getting your class schedule and locker information. All required forms must be completed prior to pick up as well.

Hidden Oak Nature Center Hosts a Weekend of Fun for Kids

This upcoming weekend the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale, VA has lots of fun activities in store. On Saturday, August 14, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. there is the “Goodnight Walk: Abounding Bats” for ages 4 and up and adults are welcome! You will get the opportunity to join a naturalist teach you about bats and take a stroll along the Old Oak Trail to look for bats.

The on Sunday, August 15, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. the center is hosting “Water Festival and Science Day.” This will be a day of science experiments, hiking to Bugg Creek to find crayfish and salamanders, watershed activities, examining erosion, and a water limbo contest. Be sure to pack your bathing suit! Kids ages 5-10 years old are welcome.

Reservations and advanced payment are required for both days and the cost for Saturday is $5 per person and Sunday is $6 per person.

Fun-Filled Weekend for Annandale Residents

This weekend in Annandale is the annual Crazy Days and Sidewalk Sale and Watkins Fire Department's “Kraut N’ Wurst Days.” Both of these events run Friday and Saturday. The “Kraut N’ Wurst Days” event includes a 5K race, tractor pull, petting zoo, live music and more.

You still have time to check out the Annandale Farmer Market this weekend before the summer slips away. The market is open at 8:00 a.m. this Saturday, August 7 and is located near the post office and city hall in downtown Annandale.
